Easter and Spring Breaks in Stratford upon Avon: Stratford-upon-Avon is perfect for a spring or Easter self catering break. Explore the historic town with its beautiful architecture and special atmosphere, visit the famous Shakespeare Houses and Gardens, and discover delightful riverside walks through parks and gardens along the banks of the River Avon. Enjoy a river cruise and take a City Sightseeing bus tour of the town and nearby villages. Cross the river on an old pedestrian chain ferry - the last of its kind in Britain. Discover Stratford's amazing choice of excellent restaurants, pubs, traditional tea rooms, coffee shops and bars. See a play at the world famous Royal Shakespeare Theatre, take a back-stage tour and a trip up the Theatre Tower. Enjoy great shopping with many interesting small independent shops and traditional markets, as well as high street stores. Heritage Mews enjoys an excellent, peaceful location in Stratford-upon-Avon's Old Town, a 10 minute stroll from the town centre, restaurants, shops, theatres and famous historic sites. Walk into town along the peaceful riverside footpath (a few minutes' from the cottage) or through picturesque streets lined with beautifully-preserved historic buildings, including Hall's Croft (the elegant Jacobean home of Shakespeare's daughter), half-timbered Tudor alms houses, the Guild Chapel and Shakespeare's Schoolroom, New Place (site of Shakespeare's last home, The Garrick (Stratford's oldest pub) and Harvard House with its outstanding intricate ornate timberwork.

Furnished and equipped to the highest standards, the cottage has fully controllable central heating and comfortably accommodates three guests plus a baby (age under 2 years sleeping in a cot). Baby equipment and a beechwood cot are available on request. The stylish and comfortable sitting-dining room opens onto the beautifully maintained private courtyard garden - a delight to look out onto whatever the weather. Upstairs, the two elegant bedrooms, a queen-size (5 foot) double and a single, are complete with luxurious Sheridan cotton linen. There is free Wi-Fi (password protected) and private off-street parking for two cars - a real bonus in Stratford town centre.

The garden at Heritage Mews:
from early spring, the sheltered, sun-filled courtyard garden is colourful with spring flowers - daffodils, tulips, primroses, violas and pansies - set against a variety of beautiful evergreens. Watch the wide variety of birds visiting the bird bath. Enjoy looking out onto the garden from the sitting-dining room, or on warmer days relax outdoors on comfortable Kettler garden furniture.

EASTER BREAKS - from 24 March to 13 April 2018, enjoy a special Easter welcome, with spring flowers arranged in the cottage for your arrival and a complimentary welcome tray with Easter treats for all ages!

For a fourth infant guest there is an additional occupancy charge of £15 for the first 2 nights plus £5 per additional night, or £40 per week.

Extended parking
is available on request. Guests can park one car from 11am on arrival day and until 2.30pm on departure day. The town centre is about 10 minutes walk away. Extended parking is subject to availability, so please ask us to reserve a parking space for you in advance.

Heritage Mews is two or three minutes' walk from Holy Trinity Church, one of England's most beautiful Parish churches situated on the banks of the River Avon and where you can visit Shakespeare's grave. From here you can walk into town and to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre along the delightful riverside footpath or enjoy peaceful walks out into adjacent open countryside. Enjoy a sightseeing cruise along the beautiful River Avon in a traditional Edwardian launch, or hire a rowing boat or self-drive motor boat to explore over 3 miles of tranquil river.

Don't miss the unique annual celebrations in Stratford-upon-Avon marking the anniversary of Shakespeare's birth. On Saturday 21 April there is a grand procession from Shakespeare's Birthplace to Holy Trinity Church to lay floral tributes on Shakespeare's grave, strolling players, musicians and a Literary Carnival Pageant. On both Saturday and Sunday Shakespeare's Birthday Festival takes place on the banks of the River Avon with a Festival Market with over a 100 stalls, international street food, craft ales, entertainment, funfair and a Living Statue competition. The Royal Shakespeare Company celebrates with special activities and events, including free theatre skills demonstrations (stage fighting, blood, guts & gore etc.), live music, a Sonnet Ferry across the River Avon and on Saturday evening a Shakespeare Birthday performance of Romeo & Juliet in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. National Trust houses and gardens - visit the many interesting National Trust properties near Stratford that are open in March and April.

  • Charlecote Park, between Stratford and Warwick on the banks of the River Avon: a superb Tudor house, gardens and landscaped 'Capability' Brown parkland with a herd of fallow deer. Grounds and outbuildings open 7 days; house open 6 days - closed Wednesday.
    Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt - 29 March to 3 April 2018 - £3. 10am to 4pm. Explore the parkland with a fun Easter trail.

  • Baddesley Clinton, Lapworth, Warwickshire: a remarkable survival of a medieval timber-framed moated manor house and garden - see the 3 priest holes. Enjoy a stroll round the gardens and lake with wonderful displays of spring bulbs. Open 7 days a week. Please note - you will only be able to visit Baddesley Clinton over Easter weekend, 30 March to 2 April, if you have pre-booked a ticket - available online.
    April and Easter opening times - open 7 days a week: garden, restaurant and shop 9am to 4pm; house 11am to 4pm.

  • Packwood House, Lapworth (close to Baddesley Clinton), An interesting restored Tudor house with park, lakeside walk, gardens and notable topiary. Open 7 days a week. Please note - you will only be able to visit Packwood over the Easter weekend, 30 March to 2 April, if you have pre-booked a ticket - available online.
    April / Easter 2017 - house and grounds open 11am to 4pm; cafe, park and shop open 9am to 4pm.

  • Coughton Court, near Alcester: an imposing Tudor house set in beautiful grounds - home to the Throckmorton family. Learn about its associations with the Gunpowder plot, priest holes and take in the views from the Tudor tower. Open 22 to 25 March 2018 and from 28 March 2018 open 5 days a week, from Wednesday to Sunday, 11am to 5pm, except closed Good Friday (30 March).
    Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt 31 March to 2 April, £3. 11am - 4pm. Outdoor trail around the grounds & traditional games in the Activity Shed.
    The Daffodil Society National Show - 21 & 22 April 2018, 12.00 to 4pm, with hundreds of exhibits, new varieties, and experts on hand to answer questions. See the rare Throckmorton daffodils in bloom in the award-winning Throckmorton family gardens. Daffodil Society Show
  • Hidcote Manor Garden, near Chipping Campden: one of the country's great gardens created by Lawrence Johnston who was passionate about plants. The garden is divided into a series of 'outdoor rooms' each with its own character and vibrant with spring bulbs and flowers. Open 7 days a week in March from 10am to 5pm and from 2 April from 10am to 6pm.
    Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt - 30 March to 2 April 2018 - £3. 11am to 4pm. A trail to discover more about the birds in the gardens at Hidcote.

  • Snowshill Manor, near Broadway: a Cotswold manor set in hillside gardens. Home to Charles Wade's spectacular collection of everyday and extraordinary objects, from tiny toys to suits of Samurai armour. Open 7 days a week from 10 March 2018. House open 12noon to 5pm; garden, shop and tearoom open 11am to 5.30pm.
    Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt - 30 March to 15 April 2018 - £2. 11am to 5.30pm. Search for clues hidden in the garden to win a prize.

  • Upton House and Gardens, near Banbury, Warwickshire: see how Lord and Lady Bearsted, who bought the house 91 years ago, created the perfect country residence for their family and growing art collection. Open 7 days a week from March onwards: manor house open 1pm to 5pm; garden, restaurant and shop from 11am to 5pm.
    Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt - 30 March to 2 April 2018 - £3. 11am to 5pm. A trail around the gardens to win a chocolate prize.

  • Farnborough Hall, near Banbury, Warwickshire: honey-coloured stone house with exquisite plasterwork, library treasures collected during the Grand tour. Fine landscaped gardens with panoramic views. A family home largely unaltered since the 18th century. Open from 4 April on Wednesdays & Saturdays 2pm to 5.30pm. Timed tickets/tours only, at 2pm, 3pm & 4pm. Book in advance or on the day - limited places.

See wonderful displays of spring bulbs at Batsford Arboretum, near Moreton-in-Marsh and Mill Dene Garden, Blockley, near Chipping Campden.

At Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, near Oxford (under one hour's drive), during Easter Weekend, 30 March to 2 April 2018, there will be numerous family Easter activities, including a Giant Egg Hunt Challenge.

Warwick Castle is open 10am to 4pm in March, and from 30 March from 10am to 5pm. Kenilworth Castle (English Heritage) is open from 10am to 4pm in March (later opening times to be announced).

Visit Compton Verney Art Gallery: the house, exhibitions and grounds are open from 17 March 2017, 10am to 5pm. Explore the beautiful grounds and see the two 2018 opening exhibitions: Ravilious & Co - work by the designer and artist, Eric Ravilious; and Created in Conflict, artwork created by British Armed Forces personnel, from the Crimean War to today.
