Christmas in Stratford-upon-Avon is a magical experience. Make the most of your Short Break - extended parking - Guests wishing to arrive early to spend the day in Stratford can park (one car) at Heritage Mews from 10.30am and check in later after 3pm. Guests can also leave their car parked until 2.30pm after vacating on departure day. Extended parking is subject to availability - please request when you book.

Christmas at Heritage Mews
Rates include central heating, gas, electricity, unlimited Wi-Fi internet access, bed linen & towels and private parking for two cars. Maximum number of guests is three (plus one baby in a cot). Guests will find a complimentary welcome tray on arrival and from 1 December the cottage beautifully decorated for Christmas.

Christmas events in Stratford-upon-Avon

Stratford-upon-Avon Christmas Lights will be switched on Thursday 24 November 2011 at 5pm, with a special ceremony and fireworks heralding the beginning of the town’s Christmas celebrations.  There are weekly Christmas Markets and late night shopping each Thursday until Christmas and award-winning guided Town Walks every day including Christmas Day. Or why not start the New Year with a short break while the Lights are still on in the first week in January?

See the Shakespeare Houses 'Dressed for Christmas' from 1 December to 8 January (closed 25 & 26 December) and learn more about festive traditions from Tudor to Victorian times - at Shakespeare's Birthplace and Nash's House in the town centre, Hall's Croft in Old Town and Anne Hathaway's Cottage in nearby Shottery. On 8 December (from 5pm), take a Candlelit Tour of Shakespeare's Birthplace with performances by 'Shakespeare Aloud!' actors and 'Tudor' Minstrels. On 26 November enjoy an evening Ghost Cruise or on 17 December a Magical Christmas Cruise along the River Avon.

The Royal Shakespeare Theatre, a ten minute riverside stroll from Heritage Mews, is open seven days a week (closed 24, 25 & 26 December), with interesting Theatre Tours and a 36 metre high Theatre Tower providing spectacular views of the River Avon and Shakespeare's home town. From 18 November to 7 January you can enjoy the Royal Shakespeare Company's swashbuckling family show, The Heart of Robin Hood - suitable for ages 7+.

Christmas in Bridge Street, Stratford-upon-Avon

Nearby National Trust houses are open for Christmas shopping, lunches and garden walks. See the houses festively decorated and enjoy traditional Christmas events and markets.

Charlecote Park celebrates Christmas at weekends from 3 to 18 December. Baddesley Clinton is open daily until 31 December (closed Mondays and 24 & 25 December), with Christmas lunches from 1 to 23 December. Upton House holds its Christmas Market on 3 & 4 December and at weekends from 3 to 18 December, you can experience a 1930s "Servants Christmas Ball".

is open daily from 26 November to 4 December for its wonderful Christmas Festival. Enjoy Coughton dressed for a Victorian Christmas, festive outdoor market stalls, the Coach House gift shop, Christmas lunches and at the weekends, Father Christmas. At Snowshill Manor and Hidcote Manor Garden you can enjoy Christmas lunches and a walk in the garden at weekends in December.

 

Visit Warwick Castle and enjoy 'Christmas at The Castle' from 12 December 2011 to 2 January 2012. Marvel at the exquisite festive decorations and the traditional Christmas tree in the Great Hall.

At Kenilworth Castle on 26 & 27 November, see Festive Falconry - a recreation of the role of royal Falconers and Hawkers at Christmas time in England.

On 26 & 27 November, Ragley Hall holds its Christmas Market with over 40 gift and craft stalls, festive music and a local choir.

Blenheim Palace celebrates Christmas from 12 November to 16 December 2011 with 'A White Christmas'. The magnificent Palace will be decorated with sparkling icicles, snowflakes, and silver white birches. In the Saloon the great dining table of the Marlborough family will be dressed in crystal and white while stunning costumes from the English National Ballet The Snow Queen will take pride of place in the Long Library.
