A Christmas Break in Stratford-upon-Avon is a magical experience. From Thursday 23 November 2017 the town centre's spectacular Christmas Lights will create a wonderful atmosphere for Christmas shopping and a variety of festive events. Enjoy town centre Christmas Markets every Thursday and Sunday from 23 November. Stratford's Charter market also takes place in Rother Street on Fridays and a Farmers Market or Antique / Collectibles Market on Saturdays. From early December experience Christmas at Shakespeare's Family Homes. Make the most of your Christmas Break - extended parking - Guests wishing to arrive early to spend the day in Stratford can park one car at Heritage Mews from 10.30am and check in from 3pm onwards. Guests can also leave their car parked until 2.30pm after vacating by 10am on departure day. Extended parking is subject to availability so please request in advance.

Rates shown below are for up to 3 guests. For a fourth infant guest, age under 2 years in a cot (crib), there is an additional occupancy charge of £15 for 2 nights plus £5 per additional night. There is £20 discount on 2 & 3 night breaks for two guests using only one bedroom.

Christmas at Heritage Mews

Rates include central heating, gas, electricity, unlimited Wi-Fi internet access, bed linen & towels and private parking for two cars. Maximum number of guests is three (plus one infant in a cot). Arrival / check-in is 3pm onwards and we request that guests vacate the property by 10am on departure day. Guests will find a complimentary festive welcome tray on arrival and from the end of November the cottage is beautifully decorated for the festive season.


Christmas events in Stratford-upon-Avon

Stratford-upon-Avon Christmas Lights will be switched on at about 4pm on Thursday 23 November 2017 (to be confirmed) with a special ceremony and the arrival of Santa Claus heralding the beginning of the town’s Christmas celebrations. There will be late night shopping in the town centre and a Christmas Market in Bridge Street until 8pm. The lights stay on until the early hours of 6 January 2018.

Christmas in Stratford-upon-Avon ~ great choice of places to eat ~ interesting independent shops ~ festive atmosphere

From 23 November 2017 (to be confirmed) there will be Thursday and Sunday Christmas Markets in Stratford town centre with Street Entertainment every Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. On Fridays Stratford's Charter Market takes place in Rother Street and on Saturdays, Farmers' Markets (1st & 3rd Saturdays of the month) or Collectibles & Craft Markets ( 2nd & 4th Saturdays of the month) from 9am to 4pm. Stratford's award-winning guided Town Walk takes place every day.

The Royal Shakespeare Theatre is a ten minute stroll from Heritage Mews - open seven days a week (closed 24, 25 & 26 December), with interesting Theatre Tours and a 36 metre high Theatre Tower providing spectacular views of the River Avon and Shakespeare's home town. Or enjoy the very best of British food in the theatre's stylish Rooftop Restaurant, with stunning views.

27 November 2017 to 4 February 2018: A Christmas Carol at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre: a brand new adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic. Suitable for ages 7 years and over - children go half-price.

From 2 December 2017, Christmas Through the Ages at Anne Hathaway's Cottage: the cottage will tell the story of 13 generations of Hathaways, who have called the cottage home, bringing to life the inhabitants from 1615 ti 1893.

The following are details of 2016 events. Similar events will take place in 2017 at National Trust properties, Stratford's Shakespeare Houses, Blenheim Palace and Warwick Castle etc.. Details of 2017 events will be provided when available.

5 November to 31 December 2016 (closed Christmas Day): Christmas at Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, near Oxford: Christmas decorations inside the Palace and the Courtyards, plus festive music at weekends throughout December.

17 November to 29 December 2016: Frankfurt Christmas Market, Birmingham: the largest authentic German Christmas market outside of Germany or Austria, Birmingham’s Frankfurt Christmas Market offers a large range of traditional goods and gifts and a selection of tempting food and drink. An easy way to travel to Birmingham from Stratford-upon-Avon is by train - journey time about an hour.

17 to 20 November 2016: Living Crafts for Christmas at Blenheim Palace: enjoy Christmas shopping in style with over 150 British designer-makers showcasing high quality crafts. Craft show details.

24 November 2016: Thanksgiving at Harvard House, High Street, Stratford: celebrate Thanksgiving with a visit to Harvard House, Stratford's hidden gem, and learn all about this Elizabethan property. Free entry - open 11am to 4pm.

25 November 2016 to 2 January 2017: Christmas at Blenheim Palace: for the first time, the gardens and parkland will be illuminated for an After Dark Festive Trail. 5pm to 10pm. For details & tickets see Festive Trail at Blenheim.

26 November to 4 December 2016: Christmas at Coughton Court (National Trust), near Alcester: open daily 11am to 4pm for festive shopping in the Coach House gift shop, the house decorated for a traditional Christmas, locally sourced Christmas lunch and homemade mince pies in the restaurant, and at weekends a Christmas Market in the Stableyard and a visit by Father Christmas. 26 November to 6 January 2017: The Theatre of Christmas at Packwood House (National Trust), Lapworth, Warks: see Packwood House dressed for Christmas by professional artist, Jennifer Collier. Open daily 9am to 4pm. Christmas Lunches served daily throughout December.

28 November to 27 December 2016: Christmas at Baddesley (National Trust), Lapworth: see the moated manor house dressed for Christmas and lit by special candles. Open daily 9am to 4pm. Baddesley Clinton at Christmas.

December 2016: Christmas at Warwick Castle: the Castle will be decked in the finest festive grandeur, with a 20-feet-high Christmas tree gracing the Great Hall. Open every day except Christmas Day with a feast of attractions. Warwick Castle

1 December 2016 to 6 January 2017: Christmas at Shakespeare's Family Homes: A Very Tudor Christmas at Shakespeare's Birthplace, Changing Christmas Traditions at Hall's Croft and a Very Victorian Christmas at Anne Hathaway's Cottage in Shottery. Details of all events at the Shakespeare Houses.

2 December 2016: Christmas Lights & late night shopping at Bourton-on-the-Water: 6pm to 9pm. Lights switch-on at 6pm. Enjoy Bourton's special festive atmosphere with the Christmas Tree with Lights in the River Windrush, in the centre of the village. Christmas Lights and Tree from 2 December to 5 January 2017. 3 & 4 December 2016: A Victory Christmas Fayre at Upton House (National Trust): see the house decorated for a wartime Christmas plus local stall holders offering hand made gifts, food and drink. Upton House Fayre

5, 7 & 9 December 2016: Christmas Evenings at Baddesley (National Trust), Lapworth: a tour by candlelight of the manor house dressed for Christmas followed by a 3 course festive supper. Booking essential. Tour details

6 & 7 December 2016: Silent Nights Tours at Coughton Court (National Trust), near Alcester: The family are about to arrive, and the servants have invited you to see the house decorated for Christmas before the celebrations start. 7, 14 & 21 December 2016: Evening Christmas Tours at Packwood House (National Trust), Lapworth: 7pm to 10pm. A tour of the house dressed for Christmas followed by a 2 course supper in the Garden Kitchen Cafe. Booking required. Tour details

10 & 11 December 2016: Christmas Wassail at Coughton Court (National Trust), near Alcester: Coughton's long-established Christmas Wassail with stories, carols and mulled wine & mince pies. Booking essential. Wassail details.

Christmas lights at Stratford-upon-Avon

The Royal Shakespeare Theatre is a ten minute stroll from Heritage Mews - open seven days a week (closed 24, 25 & 26 December), with interesting Theatre Tours and the 36 metre high Theatre Tower providing spectacular views of the River Avon and Shakespeare's home town. From 27 November 2017 to 4 February 2018 you can enjoy the Royal Shakespeare Company's new adapatation of Charles Dickens' classic story A Christmas Carol, suitable for ages 7 and over - children go half-price.

 

Christmas in Bridge Street, Stratford-upon-Avon

Enjoy festive events at local National Trust houses. Charlecote Park park is open daily and the house is open at weekends from the end of November, celebrating a Victorian Christmas. Baddesley Clinton is open daily in November and December (closed 24 & 25 December), with a Victorian themed Christmas in December and the house lit by special candles. See Packwood House dressed for Christmas from 26 November to 6 January - open daily. Upton House is open from Friday to Monday inclusive in November and December and holds a 1940s themed Victory Christmas Fayre on 3 & 4 December 2016.

Court
is open daily from 26 November to 4 December 2016 for its Winter Festival. See the house dressed for a traditional Christmas, enjoy Christmas lunch in the restaurant and festive shopping in the Coach House shop. At weekends there is a Christmas Market selling gifts, food and drink.

 

Visit Warwick Castle in December 2016 and enjoy Christmas at The Castle. Marvel at the exquisite festive decorations and 20ft traditional Christmas tree in the Great Hall.

At Kenilworth Castle (English Heritage) on 10 & 11 December 2016, enjoy a fun Christmas weekend weekend for families, with story telling, crafts and Father Chritmas in his grotto. Details.

Blenheim Palace celebrates Christmas from 5 November to 31 December 2016 (closed 25th). The Great Hall, Saloon and Long Library will be decked with delightful decorations throughout Christmastime and the Great Court will have Blenheim Palace’s own trees adorned in twinkling lights. On 17 to 20 November 2016 enjoy Christmas shopping in style at the Living Crafts for Christmas craft fair with over 150 British designer-makers showcasing high quality contemporary craft.
